Every high school football team in America claims to have brotherhood, but to the Warriors of Erwin High School in North Carolina, “brotherhood” is the driving force of their program.

Ewin Brotherhood

The Erwin brotherhood is forged through discipline, organization, and attention to detail.

Head Coach Rodney Pruett of the Erwin varsity football program is a molder of men, teaching the importance of discipline to his players on and off the field. Within Erwin High School’s diverse halls, differences in age, size, skin color, or beliefs are irrelevant details. At this school, athletes from all walks of life are expected to work together to achieve one shared goal: winning.

From practice to team workouts to film sessions, the warriors work on a tight schedule to ensure every minute they spend pursuing the game is maximized. Although these are high expectations to meet, but Coach Pruett wants to ensure that when Friday comes, the Warriors are ready for anything.

This year is shaping up to be no different as the Warriors are already 4-1 mid-season. With some tough conference match-ups on the horizon, the team will need to double down on their trust in each other in order to come out on top.

CLIP 1
Emory Pennell – SR, Linebacker / Tight End
10/15/18

A true student of the game, Emory Pennell is starting to understand what it takes to play at the next level.

Whether it’s staying up till 3am after Friday night games to review film or coming in on a weekend to put in extra work, Emory is dedicated to his craft. For him and his Erwin brothers, a commitment to the game means that, no matter what other plans you may have scheduled, you cancel those plans to be at every “voluntary” workout in the off-season.

CLIP 2
Kendrick Weaver – SR, Quarterback / Safety
10/15/18

Descending from a long line of football players, Kendrick Weaver knows that football is in his blood.

He didn’t start his football career at quarterback, but Kendrick’s experience in other positions helped him gain an in-depth, holistic understanding of the game. Quarterbacks tend to be natural leaders, and Kendrick is no exception. He works hard to build the trust of his teammates off of the field, knowing it improves his ability to better lead them on it.

CLIP 3
Jackson Gouge – SR, Defensive Tackle / Guard
10/15/18

You don’t have to work on a farm everyday to become a highly skilled lineman, but it certainly helps.

Jackson Gouge’s daily routine is different than most: school, football, and a lot of manual labor on his family’s farm. This demanding regimen molded Jackson into a physical force to be reckoned with, and a hardworking leader among his peers. Known as the quiet type, Jackson is able to find just the right things to say and do in order to inspire his teammates’ best efforts on the field.
